Nene Hatun Statue Price and Sales
The Nene Hatun statue is a powerful figurative sculpture that transforms one of the bravest and most inspiring female heroes of Turkish history into a work of art. The piece seen in the photograph was captured during the clay modeling stage at the Heykel.org Workshop, and at 1.7 meters in height, it already clearly reveals the majestic stance and fine craftsmanship of the sculpture. Standing ready to advance with her baby on her back and a scythe in her hand, this strong female figure reflects both Nene Hatun's motherhood and her warrior spirit simultaneously.
Who is Nene Hatun?
Nene Hatun was born in Erzurum in 1857 and passed away in the same city in 1955. She made history with her extraordinary courage during the 1877-1878 Ottoman-Russian War (the 93 War), one of the most deep-rooted resistance epics in Turkish history. During those dark days when Russian forces besieged Erzurum, twenty-year-old Nene Hatun attacked enemy trenches with her baby on her back and a scythe in her hand; she both fought herself and called the women of Erzurum to the front. This epic bravery is an example of heroism that belongs not only to that period but to all of Turkish history.
Symbolizing the role of women in national defense and the unbearable strength carried by Anatolian women for centuries, Nene Hatun is accepted today as the symbol of Erzurum. The hospital, street, and monumental tomb bearing her name in Erzurum reflect the deep bond this legendary woman established with the city. The fact that she was awarded the Medal of Independence by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey is the official expression of the value history has accorded her.
Design and Detailed Features of the Sculpture
The Nene Hatun statue is designed to reflect the spirit of the historical figure in the most powerful way. The most striking elements of the composition are the baby on her back and the scythe in her hand. When these two elements are evaluated together, a deeply meaningful unity emerges, symbolizing Nene Hatun's identity as both a mother and a warrior. Protecting her baby while also defending her homeland, this female figure stands as the representative of all the brave mothers of Anatolia.
The clothing details of the figure have also been worked with great precision. The dress, belt, and headscarf, reflecting the Erzurum women's clothing of the period, have been realistically modeled down to the fabric folds. While her facial expression reflects determination and strength, the forward-leaning stance of the figure symbolizes the spirit of progress and breakthrough. These details, which are so evident even in the clay modeling stage, will gain a much stronger expression during the casting and surface treatment phases.
Production Process from Clay Modeling to Casting
The sculpture is currently in the clay modeling stage at the Heykel.org Workshop. During this process, our experienced sculptors meticulously handle every detail of the figure to give the work its final form. Following the completion of the clay model, the silicone mold-making process will be carried out; fine details such as the clothing texture, facial expression, and the scythe will be transferred completely to the mold. During the casting stage, using bronze or fiberglass material, the work will reach its permanent form, and in the final stage, the sculpture will be completed with surface treatment and patina applications.
Areas of Use
The Nene Hatun statue and similar statues of historical female heroes constitute extremely meaningful choices for municipal squares and public parks, schools and university campuses, museums and cultural centers, and entrance areas of hospitals and institutions. Especially for the cities of Erzurum and Eastern Anatolia, the Nene Hatun statue is a powerful public art piece that honors the region's cultural identity and historical heritage. Deliveries are made to every province within the country and abroad from our workshop. With the baby on her back, it can also be considered a Mother Statue.
