The hookah tradition, which became widespread in Ottoman palaces in the 16th century, eventually seeped into folk culture, becoming a symbol of coffeehouses, public squares, and social gatherings. Design and Detailed Features of the Statue
The hookah statue in the photo reflects all the characteristic elements of the traditional Ottoman hookah form with great fidelity. The crescent and star (ay yıldız) and eight-pointed star motifs are engraved on the wide and powerful body using the relief technique. These motifs make a strong reference to Turkish cultural identity while significantly increasing the decorative value of the work. The slender neck rising from the body, the tray, and the bowl sections are modeled with anatomical accuracy. The openwork (ajour) ball form on top of the bowl reflects one of the finest details of traditional hookah craftsmanship.
One of the most striking elements of the statue is the realistic modeling of the hose as it curves away from the body. This detail, which imitates the spiral texture of the hose, adds both a sense of movement and originality to the work. These details, which are clearly visible even in the clay modeling stage, will become much more prominent during the casting and surface finishing phases.
Material and Production Process
The hookah statue is currently in the clay modeling stage. This stage constitutes the most creative and labor-intensive part of statue production. First, a steel carrier skeleton is prepared, and then layers of clay are applied to meticulously shape the form and details. Following the completion of the clay model, a silicone molding process is performed, ensuring that the finest details, such as the motifs on the body and the hose texture, are transferred completely to the mold.
In the final production, fiberglass, bronze, or composite materials can be used. For outdoor projects and large-scale corporate orders, the recommended materials are bronze or reinforced fiberglass. Both options are resistant to weather conditions, long-lasting, and yield aesthetically powerful results.
Size Options
The hookah statue can be produced in any size according to the customer's needs and the characteristics of the space. We have the production capacity for a wide range of sizes, starting from tabletop decorative versions to monumental scales of 5 meters and above. In large-scale statues, internal support systems are reinforced, and engineering factors such as wind load and ground stability are taken into account.
