Home Decor Sculptures, Custom Miniature House Sculpture Price and Sales
Commissioning a sculpture of your home, or of the village house where you grew up, is one of the most personal choices in home decoration. Our workshop usually produces large-scale monuments, public sculptures and reliefs. Small-scale pieces fall outside our regular production line. However, this home sculpture project came to us as a special request, and we brought it to life in our workshop. The image shows the clay modeling stage of the work. In the next stage, the sculpture will be completed in fiberglass.
What Is a Custom Home Sculpture?
A custom home sculpture is the transformation of a building or living space into an artistic miniature sculpture. It is not mass-produced like a ready-made product. It is modeled from scratch, based on the photographs, measurements and memories the client provides. In this project, two village houses with stone walls, tiled roofs and chimneys were designed together with a garden surrounded by a woven fence. Every detail was shaped according to the wishes of the client. That is why the finished piece is more than a decorative object: it is a personal keepsake.
Clay Modeling Stage: The First Form of the Home Sculpture
The foundation of every sculpture is clay modeling, and the work in the image is at exactly this stage. Clay modeling is the first and most decisive step, where the form, proportions and surface texture are created by hand. Because clay is a flexible material, the sculptor can work the details with ease and make corrections whenever needed. The hand-worked stone wall texture, the rows of roof tiles, and the window and door frames were all made by hand at this stage. We do not move on to the next step until the clay model is flawless, because the mold and the casting will take an exact copy of this model.
Stone Village House Miniature Details
In village house miniatures, artistic value is defined by detail. In this work, the stone wall texture was rendered realistically, with irregular stones fitting together naturally. The roof of the larger house has rows of tiles and a chimney on top. Next to the smaller house there is a stacked pile of firewood and wooden door details. In the garden, a woven fence, vegetable beds and small shrubs were sculpted. These elements turn the miniature into a small scene that tells the story of village life. A good miniature sculpture should reflect not only the building itself, but also the atmosphere around it.
How Does a Custom Order Sculpture Begin?
The custom order sculpture process begins with a detailed conversation with the client. Photographs of the house taken from different angles, approximate measurements and any old pictures are reviewed. Which details will be highlighted, and how the garden and surroundings will be arranged, is decided together. Then the scale is determined and the base plan is prepared. This preparation stage ensures that the clay modeling proceeds without mistakes. The client can share their opinion and request corrections at every phase of the work. This approach guarantees that the final piece is truly the one the client imagined.
Why Doesn't Our Workshop Take On Small Projects?
Our workshop specializes in monumental sculpture, public sculpture and large-scale relief production. For this reason, we do not normally accept small-scale decorative work. This village house sculpture was an exceptional project. The story behind the request and the richness of its details made the project interesting for our workshop. The modeling experience we have gained on large projects was reflected just as well in the fine details of a small miniature. The same precision we bring to a monument gives the same result in a house miniature.
Fiberglass Sculpture Stage: The Next Step
Once the clay model is complete, the sculpture is molded and produced in fiberglass. Clay itself is fragile, may crack as it dries, and is not long-lasting. Fiberglass, on the other hand, is a lightweight, strong material that resists external conditions. It performs well against humidity, heat and cold. Thanks to these properties, a fiberglass sculpture can be used safely both indoors and in sheltered outdoor spaces. Its low weight also makes transport and placement easy. Because the fine details of the clay are transferred to the fiberglass exactly, the craftsmanship invested in the work is fully reflected in the result. When the fiberglass production stage of this project is complete, we will share the rest of the process as well.
Mold Making and Surface Finishing Process
The first step of fiberglass production is making a mold of the clay model. The mold carries the entire surface texture of the model in reverse. Then layers of resin and glass fiber are applied inside the mold. After the layers harden, the piece is removed from the mold. The joints are corrected, the surface is sanded and made ready for painting. The stone look, tile color, wood tones and plant greens are applied by hand painting. If desired, an aging effect or patina can be applied so that the miniature comes closer to the real texture of stone and earth. Finally, a protective coating is applied, and the surface keeps its first-day look for a long time.
Where Is a Home Decor Sculpture Used?
This kind of home decor sculpture creates a striking focal point in areas such as the living room, study, entrance hall or garden. A village house miniature brings a sense of nostalgia into the living space. It is also a meaningful gift for family members. For those who want to keep alive the memory of a house they have moved away from or sold, it is a lasting solution. Thanks to its fiberglass structure, it can be preserved for years without deteriorating and passed down from generation to generation.
